π Schedule
Shield Goaltending U13 Goalie Sessions make sure every goaltender has strong fundamentals before the game gets faster. This is the age where goalies start to see more complex techniques and game situation drills, so the basics need to be automatic.
Who It Is For
Goaltenders born in 2014 and 2015. Returning Shield goalies registered for the full year receive priority, so public spots are limited.
Program Focus
Our main focus for U13 is puck tracking. Tracking improves positioning and forces goalies to watch the puck all the way into their body. Better tracking leads to better rebound control and gives goalies the time they need to react and make a second controlled save.
Every week we also work on:
- Active hands and patience
- Rebound control into and away from the body
- Positioning and depth
- Save selection on low and high shots
- Crease movement and recovery
- Introduction to game situation drills
The goal is not simply to complete drills. We want every goaltender to understand why they are making each movement, so they can trust those habits in games.
Schedule
Location: St. Bon's Forum
Monday group: Mondays at 4:00 PM, October 5 to December 7, 2026
Tuesday group: Tuesdays at 4:00 PM, October 6 to December 8, 2026

Group Size and Coaching
Each group has a maximum of 12 goaltenders and 6 or more goalie coaches on the ice, about one coach for every two goalies. Each station has its own instructor, so goalies get feedback and corrections all session long. Extra shooters join when a drill needs game situation repetitions.
Why Shield
- Direct feedback from experienced goalie coaches every session
- Small groups with a low goalie to coach ratio
- A positive, supportive goalie environment
- Growing confidence and a real understanding of the position
Make Up Sessions (click for details)
We know it is not always possible to attend every session. Goaltenders can receive up to two make up sessions, based on available space. Let us know at least 24 hours before a session you will miss and we will do our best to place you in another Shield session. Make up sessions cannot be guaranteed.
