π Schedule
Skating is the most important skill a goalie has. A goalie who moves well gets set in time, stays square to the puck, and is ready before the shot comes.
Shield Power Skating (PS) builds that movement. Every session works on:
- Skating β strong, efficient movement in and around the crease
- Edge work β sharp, controlled turns, pushes and stops
- Balance β staying steady and in control through every movement
- Puck handling β confidence playing the puck
- Fun skating β creative drills that keep goalies wanting to work
Who this group is for
This U11 group is a mix of 2016 and 2017 goaltenders.
Why it matters
Power skating is a fundamental skill for goaltenders. Learning to skate well early helps young goalies succeed now, and gives them the base they need for the more advanced movements that come later.
Time: Saturdays at 2:00pm, Capital Hyundai Arena
Dates: September 5th to December 19th, 2026 (16 sessions)
Group size: maximum 6 goaltenders, with a minimum of 2 goalie coaches on the ice
How a session runs
Sessions are skating and edge work built for goalies, with puck handling worked in. Some sessions include a few shots, but that is a small part of the ice. The focus stays on movement, balance and control.
With six goalies and two coaches, your goalie gets corrected in the moment instead of waiting in a line. We explain what to do and why it works, so the habit holds when they go back to their own team.
